Explain and give examples about :

  1. Simple Present Tense
To describe things that are currently happening or that are currently or always the case.
Example : I go to church every Sunday.

To talk about something that exists or happens regularly.
Example : My sister leaves home at 6am everyday.

To refer to a future situation in certain cases in some subordinate clauses.
Example : I'll go to your house on Wednesday.

  1. Past Tense
To describe a situation that lasted for a longer time in the past but is now finished.
Example : He used to work in Dubai for two years.

To talk about an event that happened regularly or repeatedly but is now over.
Example : I knocked on her door for so many times.

To refer to an event or situation which happened once and is now finished.
Example : I ate breakfast at McDonald's yesterday.

  1. Present Continuous Tense

Example : I'm doing my last English assignment.

  1. Past Continuous Tense
To describe the background in a story written in the past tense.
Example : The sky was clear as she came out of the house.

To describe an unfinished action that was interrupted by another event or action.
Example : I was doing my assignment when my mom asked me to do the chores.

To express a change of mind.
Example : I was going to hangout with you but I've caught a cold.

  1. Present Perfect Tense
An action or situation that started in the past and continues in the present.
Example : I have lived in Bekasi since 2014.

An action performed during a period that has not yet finished.
Example : He has been travel to a lot of places this month.

A repeated action in unspecified period between the past and now.
Example : She has visited the art gallery a few times.

An action that was completed in the very recent past, expressed by 'just'.
Example : I have just finished my dinner.

An action when the time is not important.
Example : He has mastered Java programming language.

  1. Present Perfect Continuous Tense
Actions that started in the past and continue in the present.
Example : She has been working on her thesis since last month.

Actions that have just finished. But we are interested in the results.
Example : It's been raining.

  1. Past Perfect Tense
Refers to a time earlier than before now. It is used to make it clear that one event happened before another in the past. It does not matter which event is mentioned first – the tense makes it clear which one happened first.
Example : They have arrived before the rain start to pour.

  1. Past Perfect Continuous Tense
It corresponds to the present perfect continuous, but with reference to a time earlier than 'before now'. As with the present perfect continuous, we are more interested in the process.
Example : Had you been waiting long before your friends arrived?

  1. Future Tense
To give or ask for information about the future.
Example : I will apply for a job on Friday.

To talk about things that we think are likely or possible to happen in the future, but which aren't completely certain.
Example : I think you will fall in love with her eventually.

To refer to conditional situations, namely things that will or may happen if something else occurs.
Example : They'll get a big amount of money if they win the competition.
